Khaled Shalak
Director and water supply engineer
Khaled Shalak
He is the engineering office manager.
Graduated from Damascus University with a Bachelor in civil engineering, 1977.
Followed many professional training courses in (Japan - France - UK) in the fields of leak detection 1985, water and sanitation 1990, water supply planning 1996, Prince 2, 2010 (project management in conditioned environment).
He joined Omar Shalak (the father) engineering office in 1978 and has extensive experience in the management of structural and water and wastewater development and rehabilitation studies and designs.
He has completed many studies through working with Damascus Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DAWSSA) in cooperation with many local and international organizations (WHO- UNICEF- ICRC - SARC – NRC) and funding agencies (JICA - KFW - EIB Islamic bank- ADF).
The projects’ studies scale varies from equipping isolated water well to the transmission of 13m3/sec from the Syrian coast to Damascus and rural Damascus.
His engineering activities cover approximately all the Syrian governorates.

Ahmad Abdullah
Ahmad is graduated from Damascus University with a B.Sc. in Geology 1980.
Working from 1984 to 1990 with Russian experts in all kind of survey, (hydro geological - geological-), analysis pumping test, preparation and calculation water balance.
Working from 1994 to 1998 with the UNDP in the project of artificial recharge for ground water in Damascus and prepare the national report.
Working from 2000 to 2001 with project establish integrated information system for water resources in Barada & Awaj Basin, the project has been executed with cooperation with ACSAD.
Working from 1995 to 2002 with department of ground water which related with establishment of ground water monitoring, operation, maintenance, and collecting, sorting, analyzing data, and preparing annual water balance.
Working from 2005 to 2017 as hydrogeologist in ACSAD in the following projects:
1- Ground water model for Al-Ghota area ( It is part from Barada & Awaj Basin)- Syria
2- Ground water model for Aleppo Basin area - Syria
3- Ground water model for Al-Yarmouk Basin - Syria
4- Ground water model for Al-Zabadani area (in the frame of decision support system D.S.S. ) - Syria
5- Combating desertification in the southwest region of KSA
6- Groundwater Model for coastal basin - Syria
7- Ground water model for Orontes Basin - Syria
8- Ground water model of Akkar region-Syria
9- Ground water model for Euphrates Basin- Syria

Nabil Al Wais

Nabil Al Wais
He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Damascus University in 1984 with specialization in power and energy. Joined the Office in 2005. A design engineer for more than 30 years in the field of water pumping installations (pumps, panels, generation sets, conversion centers). Long experience in the preparation of technical dossiers and technical specifications for works and supplies specific for water projects.
Participated in the study of drawing water from the Syrian coast to Damascus and its countryside in cooperation with the Damascus Water Supply Authority. He also participated in the preparation of the electrical studies for rehabilitation of many pumping stations in cooperation with SARC and also ICRC in preparing a study for the use of solar energy and hydraulic energy surplus from water withdrawal pipelines, and also feeding the water wells with power.
He conducted electrical studies to rehabilitate energy systems with lighting for the rehabilitation projects of the emergency department in Al-Mowasat Hospital and several dispensaries in Aleppo, Lattakia, Tartous, Hama, Homs, Sweida, Damascus countryside.
He was the Head of the Electrical and Mechanical Department in Damascus Water Supply and Sewerage Authority for more than 20 years.
Sawsan Mughrabi
Structural Design Engineer
Sawsan Mughrabi
She graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Damascus in 1992. Diploma in Structural Engineering in 1994 and Consultant Engineering in Structural Studies since 2010. Followed a technical course in Japan in the rehabilitation of water tunnels in 2007.
Joined the Office in 2003 and worked in the field of structural engineering for different kind of structures and specially water reservoirs and civil installations related to buildings for production, storage and water supply systems.
Participated in the audit of civil facilities for the project of rehabilitation and expansion of the Damascus water network and she supervised the implementation of the rehabilitation of the old water drawing tunnel to Damascus.
Has more than 25 years of experience in the studies and preparation of specifications and technical specifications for water installations.
In cooperation with SARC and WHO, she conducted technical studies to rehabilitate and strengthen dispensaries in Aleppo, Damascus countryside, Swaida, Tartous, Lattakia and Hama.
Malak Hanna
Waterproofing and Building Materials Engineer
Malak Hanna
Graduated as a Civil Engineer from the Damascus University in 1979. She holds a Diploma in Building Technology and Materials
National School of Roads and Crossroads of France 1989 - Joined the Office in 2015
She has extensive experience in building materials in general and insulation and reinforcement materials in particular. She worked in the project of rehabilitating the old water tunnel in Damascus as a quality auditor with the Japanese company Nippon Koie in 2006
Has implemented a wide range of projects for the rehabilitation and waterproofing of reservoirs with Damascus Water Supply Authority as well as ICRC until 2015.
She speaks many languages (Arabic - French - English - Czech - Russian).
Ahmad Sheikhani
Mechanical Engineer
Ahmad Sheikhani
He graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Damascus in 1994, followed a specialist course in Germany with the support of Invent - DWA in the field of water treatment. He has more than 20 years of experience in the studies and supervision of implementation of pumping stations and water networks by adopting the green code, also in preparing feasibility studies and reviewing projects.
Extensive experience in the field of systems for irrigation, fire, sewage, rain drainage, hydraulic treatment plants and networks of industrial cities.
Expert in sewage networks and wastewater treatment..
Participated in the preparation of design specifications for the Industry Authority in Saudi Arabia
Work through the General Company for Studies and Technical Consultations - GCEC in the study and planning of many engineering projects.
He also worked as a design engineer at Halcrow Consulting Group.
He worked as the head of the team of water networks engineer in the Lebanese consulting firm Khatib and Alami in Sulaymaniyah (Iraq).
He also worked as a mechanical engineer in a food facility for the National Company in Saudi Arabia.
Amal Mouradi
Technical / Engineering translator
Amal Mouradi
Bachelor of Arts in English Language at Damascus University 1975, Diploma in English Language in 1975, and Certificate in Sworn Translation (English / Arabic) in 1987.
More than 42 years of experience in secretarial, teaching and translation works.
She was entrusted to the Office of Expert Engineers at Damascus Water Supply Establishment for 10 years.
She taught English language and literature at the University of Damascus and several private institutes.
She provided and still provides translation services for many internal and external entities (JICA - KFW - Oxfam – ICRC - MEDAIR - SARC - International Chamber of Commerce ... and others).
She was the official translator for KFW / Damascus since 2006 until they closed their Damascus office in 2012.
She has special activities in translating engineering and technical documents and tender documents and contracts.
